Tri Moto 175 Project - whats this pipe?

are those bicycle handlebars?!?! (I think the seat is a lifejacket)

This is one UGLY 175 I picked up recently. The engine turns over and the rear tires are like new. - If I can get it running easily enough - it will probably be a quick project.

    1. Can I buy these fenders new?
    2. Whats a good source of parts for these?
    3. What kind of pipe is that? Looks like an old DG to me - but whats with the tip? I have never seen one like that before.

Lastly - anyone have any idea what year this POS is? (front sus - no rear)

    Hi there!
Don't know about the pipe or where to get parts but they made those 175s from 82-84. Mine is an 84. The vin # will tell you. My vin=20E-009696, E=84, D=83, C=82. I just picked mine up and have not done any work to it yet. Have fun with yours, DRaCuLa

Is that paint on the fenders? If it is, clean it off with acetone. Judging by the coverage, buy at least a gallon. There was a thread not too long ago about sanding the plastics. I have tried it and mine turned out pretty good as long as you have a loy of time on your hands. I sanded every piece of plastic on mine. The front fender took 3 hours, the tank 2 hours, and the rear fender was 7 hours. I first started with 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 , then last was 2000 grit. My arms and shoulders were sore for about 3 days after that, but everyone that saw the trike prior to the work was amazed. If the paint is thick, use that gooey paint remover first. I did that on my gas tank. It works fast. If you have cracks, I bought the airless welder from www.eurethanesupply.com . I have the 80 watt pro. I really like it and recomend it if you want to save a lot of money. My 250R front fender was almost broken off, but I welded it back together. It paid for itself right there. It does take time getting used to using it though, but the fender comes out pretty solid. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
