    starting 200 auto x project

i am starting to build my auto x. i bought a frame from erectordale. (i havnt got it et but he probably hasnt even got my payment cuz its going threw snail mail.) i have a rear shock, rear axle (not here yet) , rear hubs, rear wheels and tires, rear swing arm (not here yet) , gas tank (not here yet) , seat, wiring and coils, engine, and a couple other small things.

i have two trannys i have a 185s and a 200s tranny. what one should i use ? is there a difference between the two? if it helps any i want a machine capable of speed and some mud (6-9 inches at most).

after buying all that im broke for about 3 or 4 weeks until i get payed again. but once i get payed im going on a spending spre again. (after bills get payed of course) so im hoping some of you guys would help me out. (i dont mean give me parts but sell me parts.) im sick of buying parts on ebay. half the time they are not as described and i get screwed.

i will keep you guys up to speed as i get stuff in the mail and from ups.

i want to say go with the 185.

I don't know why but them auto X's can fly.

mine had a open header "no muffler" and i think it has a 200x carb,

with a extended axle and bald ohtsu's .it was a good set up. it would slap haul but and would drift so good around a corner wide open.

Nice! I have an auto X back in Washington, its a fun bike! The manual bikes are faster, but the Auto X is still a great bike. Good luck on your project, let us know how you do!

I have 400ex hubs and wheels on my auto-x. its like a +5 i think i was told from a buy on here. the hubs themselves add 1inper per side and the wheels add a few more. i think its 48" wide but id have to check again.

you can use the following hubs and or rims.

    87-92 250x hubs and wheels
    93-07 300ex hubs and wheels
    99-07 400ex hubs and wheels

also this weekend i learned you can run banshee 350 hubs they do not stick out wider it looked but you can run banshee wheels if you find a set cheap.

yep the x takes them. 25 splines i think they are. if you need 200x parts talk to jason85atc250r. i was at his place sunday again getting parts, he got to about 7 200x i think? anyway hes got some plastics and stuff. dont get 200x brakes cuz they are mostly junk by now. use a CR80 rear brake caliper for the back and kx80 for the front. he posted about caliper swaps in a thread and i added what years work. you also need to rig up a rear foot break since the 200x one will not work.

i have some some spare motor mounts, you can have them when ya got some money. PM me about it. i will also have a seat cover (black with no rips) id sell cheap since i got a custom one

What I did with my bike was use an entire 200s bottom end, then I put both the piston and the cooling fins from the 200x on the top of the s. It works really well. That way, you have the higher compression of a 200x, and the cooling capability as well. That way, it is essentially a automatic 200x. I wouldnt waste my time with the 185s. Just get a full 200s bottom end and put a 83-85 200x topend on it, you'll be fine. Good luck!
