    Honda 200S cutting out

hello I'm new to bikes i have an 84 Honda 200S my first bike. it was working fine but lately when i go for a ride it starts and runs fine and idles good but after awhile of riding the bike keeps cutting out sometimes on the first pull it starts right up or starts and just as i give it some gas it would cut out and do this a couple of times then starts up and runs fine.

it seems that this only happens if i have the bike in first or second just taking my time down hill or on a trail or if i am stopping and putting the bike in neutral it will just out as I'm changing the gears mostly where i shift to first. my buddy told me to clean the carb but i never got to do it yet to see if this is what is causing this. i was also thinking myself that the bike could be getting hot.

If anyone can tell what it might be or how i could find out what it is and fix it please let me know
