Need help, please. Tri-z clutch cable

I can't seem to get the cable end to stay in the cable holder. On the top of the gearcase is a U shaped nipple where the metal end of the clutch cable sleeve is supposed to ride in. This allows for the backpressure on the sleeve so the cable can freely move in and out of it. I hope someone can follow me so far. I can't ride for more than 1-5 minutes without the cable "popping" out of the U shaped holder, this in turn keeps the clutch from working or being engaged due to lack of tension. I appreciate any help if you follow. I have tried adjusting the clutch and tension on the cable and am thinking about using some tie wraps next. Thanks David

There is a clip like metal piece that the cable runs through that keeps the cable attached to the case, and Im wondering if you have it, or if its bents or something. Ive never had the problem you mention, and I keep a lot of slack in mine.
