    ORing groove depth?

Recently oringed one of my heads. I'm using 1.8mm (70thou) Viton orings. I cut the groove to a depth of 1.3mm (50thou) as this is what a friends banshee coolhead was cut to running the same thickness orings. The inner oring leaks between the cylinder and the water jacket. it seems as though there is not enough squish on the oring. Are my grooves too deep? Could someone please help me with the correct depth?
    Thanks, Brett.

I would have thought that was a good squish. I'd guess leaving about 25% of the oring to squish would be enough. There must be a formula somewhere... Did you try the machinists handbook??
