leaded fuel
i just finished up a trike conversion project with a snowmobile engine. The engine is an air cooled 2cyl. 2stroke and i just noticed that it says im supposed to use leaded fuel only. Should i use a lead additive? If i have heard correct, the lead reduces heat and friction but im not sure if its neccesary or not. What do you guys think? thanks in advance.

I guess I probably would. Non leaded fuel might eat away at the gaskets in the carb, its been known to happen on older carbs. You should show us some pictures of this project, sounds very interesting.

What year is this snowmobile engine you are speaking of ?

oh the engine is a 340cc kohler from a 1979 john deere spitfire

If you don't use the bike for just normal riding you might consider running a higher octane leaded fuel such as turbo blue 110, that is what I use in my 300r dragbike and it works excellent.

yea the engine is completely stock so i doubt i could get the advantage from 110, but i'll probably try some lead additive for now.
