take the cdi cover of the top of the motor and check that the rotor/timing advance mechanizim there is a little pin that keeps this aligned correctly that can fall out if not tightened correctly and the symptons your are talking about sounds likely that's the issue. you will have spark and will get gas and it will pop and try to start once in about 20 kicks I've had 4 200x machines do this as they was not tight enough too stay put Loc-tite will fix this use the blue not the red for easier removal when neccessary

Erectordale could be onto something. The small pin on the camshaft fell out of my 200x. Blue Loc-Tite did the trick. Also, it still could be your valves not adjusted correctly. A friend of mine used to work at a Honda dealership years ago. He said you would not believe the people that brought in 200x trikes because they wouldn't start. Usually, one of the mechanics would grab a large adjustable wrench and feeler gauges and hop in the back of the truck, adjust the valves, and fire it right up - without even unloading it. He said the 200x and the ct70 engines are the pickiest when it comes to valves needing to be adjusted perfectly. Check 'em again to be sure, hell it only takes a few minutes. May save you a lot of time and aspirin. Let us know what you find!!! You have some curious watchers here.

If you have them at .007 and the book calls for .003, you're 5 minutes from firing that puppy up!!!
