    Need Help With The Tecate

    Hey everyone
I hadn't ridden in over a year when I finally got some time this weekend. I was going to take the KXT out and wouldnt you know it. Nothing. I changed the gas, cleaned the carb, and then got ticked and went in out of the heat. I have a feeling it's the stator but I have a couple of questions:

    1. Can a stator just expire from sitting???

    2. How can it be checked?

    3. Are there any tricks I need to know regarding the removal?

    4. Has anyone used the stators that are always on ebay?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Ive never heard of a stator going out from sitting, however the flywheel magnets could. You can put a ohm meter to the stator leads to check them the book tells what the reading should be. Before you remove the flywheel, Do you have spark? Basicly to pull the flywheel, bolt the puller onto the three holes then tighten, tap on the end of the puller, repete till it pops off, the stator works best if you have what is known as an impact driver. its a screwdriver that you turn, then on it to losen screws. keeps from messin up the phillps head.
