    350x bearing carriers

    Are the bearing carriers the same from 85 to 86?????

    well, since no one answered you ill chime in, i think i heard people on the board here saying that their different, but im not 100% sure, i dont know 350x's, check with someone else.

    yes...the carriers are different. you can use an 86 carrier in an 85 but you have to use the 86 rear sprocket and bolts. the 86's are countersunk to clear the carrier. the 86 carrier is also the same as a 250x/300ex.

    The easy way to tell them apart is an 86 has 4 (i think) holes in it for the axle adjustment about the right size for a .25" allen wrench, and the 85s have the old style tooth adjusting ring on the left hand side. Either one will fit in either years swing arm, the 85/86 calipers mount differently, the 86 sprocket is a large diameter mounting bolt circle than the 85. The 86 sprocket is chamfered and runs a 'flush' bolt head instead of the std style bolts on the 85. I'm sure there's more but with a little effort you can make anything go together its just the details...
