Talking Honda Trail 90 "Bobber Project"

Well, I've been wanting to do this one for a long time now, but finally I have the free time and the money (a little bit of it anyway) to do it.

Planned mods to the Trail 90:

-ATC 110/125 engine, for extra horsepower and better gear ratios.

-Stretched front forks. Not sure how I'm gonna do this, but we'll see. Maybe no stretched forks.

-The customary loud "custom bike" exhaust. Probably handmade and painted flat black. I particularly like the pipes that follow the bike to the back and then raise up like 3 feet, those "zoomies" style stacked pipes. Maybe I'll have to rig up a twin pipe setup onto this little single-cylinder bike

-Black paintjob, because the stock Honda orange just won't cut it!

-Apehangers. Anybody have an idea where I can procure some apehanger bars that'll fit the stock 7/8" bar clamps? All the bars I've seen have been for Harleys (I have a V-Twin Mfg. catalog), and they're all either 1" or 1.5". Also, anyone know of a way to extend my throttle cable and front brake cable?

    Any suggestions or ideas appreciated!

you will need to measure and buy longer throttle and brake cable's. As for the handle bars, get a torch, a length of some 2" heavy pipe, and 3 1/2 feet of 7/8" tube steel, and bend it your self for truly custom bars!

Yeah, I was also thinking along those lines, but wouldn't it be soft at the bends? Although a street-only machine probably won't take much of a beating...

shouldn't be just don't use tin steel, but the hardest part will be keeping the pipe from collapsing on it self while being bent.

Cap your 7/8 tubing, fill it up with sand, slip a loooong cheater pipe over the end, and bend it cold. The tubing won't collapse and it will not be a weak point in your bars. I'm tellin you it will bend pretty hard though. My great uncle was a certified gas line welder back in the 40s and 50s...this was one of his tricks.
