I've been using the stuff from Honda for the CR's and 250R's.
That's what the guy suggested, and it works well. About 6 bucks a quart.
It's 80/85W, Racing transmission fluid, but don't start thinking thick..........it's nice and thin. You could also use the stuff from Royal Purple, or motorcycle engine oil.
On the clutch side case, you will notice an oil check bolt, towards the bottom, and to the rear of the waterpump cover.
Remove that bolt, and add fluid till it dribbles out the hole, and re-install the bolt, and fill cap. That's all there is to it. It should take a little over half a quart.

mild clean-up porting, an open K&N, CR and YZ calipers.......among other things
I recieved that same oil from my local repair guy, but in the Honda manual, it says to use 5W, 10W30, 10W40, 20W40, 20W50 depending on the temperature. So I am confused about which oil to run.
I also saw the gray fluid on the cap, and thought it was water from the cooling system, but when I flushed and drain it, the oil did not appear milky at all. It seems only that gray color collects on the cap.
It's gray/green because of the aluminum clutch plates. Sounds like it's been in there a while.

The OEM motorcycle oils are rated differently some how, and their 80/85W is more like a normal 10-20wt engine oil. Me personally, I run ATF in the transmissions on all my 2 strokes.
I've got Synchromax from Royal Purple. Of course, I actually have to have some riding on this bike for my opinion to mean anything.Well sell the crap at work so I just put it in everything. Try buying a case of 80w90. $$$

Yeah...its got some nice friction modifiers for the clutch though, and its thin enough it gets into all the nooks and crannies of the trans, thats my theory anyways. I did believe it or not actually notice a difference in how fast the engine revs vs 30wt, I guess bearing/counterbalancer friction difference?
I would think more clutch pack. That's a large rotating mass that runs partially submerged in the oil. It probably would make a noticable differrence.
