KX 250 VS. KXT 250 Head Gasket

Would someone please remind me the reason for swaping out the stock '86 Tecate head gasket for a KX head gasket? Is it just for the thickness factor or are there other reasons?? Anybody ever have custom all copper head gaskets made in various thickness's ??

KX head gasket ups the compression, potentially giving you more HP. I wouldn't recommend it unless your running hi octane fuel all the time.

I've done it to mine because thats what the motorbike shops carry down my way but if I had the choice, I'd just run a standard head gasket.

I kinda figured so. The KX gasket is thinner. Just didn't know if the swap was due to sealing issues or other.
