    Got a Manco Rustler 308!

Not a bad score, $50 from Craigslist

Doesn't run, but pulls over, so I set to strip it down and begin effecting some repairs.

The interesting thing about it is that it's got a Comet clutch (a la mini bike), and is set up to accept just about any motor you can bolt onto her. This is the only 3 wheeler that has this type of design from everything I've read. Have a look

This is the engine mounting plate with the engine off. See all the mounting holes? Cool! Something that can be kept running indefinitely by yanking a motor off of just about anything.

Took me all of about 15 minutes to strip it down to get to work

It even has a forward and reverse gear, that's controlled back here at the gearbox

Now I'm thinking that it's time to go pick up that Ariens rototiller that my dad offered me and "borrow" the engine

The engine that is on it now is a Kawasaki FG300D industrial 7.5 HP, that I can find absolutely zero informaiton about on the net. It pulls over with about 65 psi compression, which I don't know if is normal, I'm thinking that's pretty low. A telltale sign is that somebody used a piece of foam in the air cleaner, which is fine, but it looks like they scraped a bunch of dirt and gunk off the inside with a screwdriver. Not good. But, I'll toss on a Briggs or something and have her going for the summer and tear this motor down over the winter. It'll give me something to do

Think you can fit a V-Twin in there?

It's nice to finally see a detailed thread on one of these trikes. I look forward to your progress reports.

Looks like a Comet 30-series secondary clutch. You gotta look out for those things blowing up on ya, I have a Manco go-kart with a 5 horse Tecumseh in it, and it blew the secondary clutch out on it after a week of use. Also, those 30-series clutches are only rated for engines up to 8 horsepower. I'd be careful if you're planning to put something bigger than that in there.

You can get the newer 44-series clutches (rated for 15 horse I believe) and belts and such at www.gokartsupply.com

I actually have the thing all apart at the moment, the frame stripped and repainted black.....but that's as far as I got. The back axle's a mess, but I think I can get the parts from Tractor Supply Co, I just have to take the time to get there and get it done.

hey ti m have you gotten any where with your trike? i got mine up and running and have got a tip for you,the thumb throttle on these trikes are trash they work but not that good i swaped mine out for a thumb throttle from a old chapperal snowmobile works a ton better. i wish i had a true trike thumb throttle but the one i put on works much better than stock.
