Lookin for what really goes here. there is a 36mm socket keeping tension on the chain. is there supposed to be anything? my chain too long?

a chain roller goes there...but the chain goes UNDER it! if u need pics let me know and il get some later

As was mentioned, there should be a roller there, and the chain should be under it.
If the chain ends up being too long, it has either stretched, or was too long to begin with.
