Don't be afraid to customize it, you can always go back and restore it later. BUT, if your planning on selling it when you finish it RESTORE IT. Custom bikes bring NO MONEY.
2007 YAMAHA YTZ450 went to a great home RIP Sam
Black shows every little scratch. I blacked my x out and now iam regretting it.
well welcome abourd homie!! and in fla to! check out the local riding thread for our ocala ride thread and our upcoming durhamtown ga thread! also (coming from a custom painter) dont paint your plastic, jsut buy new maire plastic, black isnt that bad, I rode my 250r everywhere in black with no problems, and now I race with it. In my OP put new plastic on it, but dont crazy it out with all kinds of body bolt ons, go black plastic 200x stock rear fender, a 85-86 250r front fender/ R headlight shroud in black, paint the tank black and put the factory stickers back on, possibly even paint the wheels, either get a custom seat cover or recover it yourself. good luck homie! and come out and ride with us! where ya located?
oops my bad you got a plastic gas tank on there dont you? in that case, no painting that.

yea the plastic gas tanks are polythelyne and the paint will bubble off of it as the gas fumes travel through the plastic, so a metal stock tank would be in order to paint black, pm atctim and ask about his black 200x I painted his tank.
No need to PM me - Here's the scoop - his black paint was perfect. Knowing firsthand that black is prolly the hardest color to paint and make look good - this would be your guy for tank painting. And moshman355 and his wife tammy Mrs.moshman are the people to get hold of for a sweet seat cover. their site is cosmicquads.com.
Here's a link to the work Syko did on my ladies tank we are talking about;

can't you red-kote the inside of a plastic tank and then paint it? seems like i read this somewhere...
technicaly you can, but its not made to adhere to the plastic, and even after you did I wouldnt paint it till a month later after all the fumes seeped out, to mew thats more trouble than its worth.
