    Problems with cosmetic gaskets?

I got a overhaul kit on Ebay for my t-3 about 2 months ago and finally got around to working on it. Well when I went to put the base gasket back on it won't fit! One of the stud holes is really big, and the front of the gasket is to wide between the holes? Any of you guys ever have this problem before? The kit says its for an 84-85 t-3 but the base gasket doesn't even look close to the right one. Now when I took it apart it had a cosmetic on there, so they must have had the right one at some point. Any input would be appreciated. Oh and do you guys drill the holes out where the exhaust bridge is on the stock jugs? Wiseco says you should and the pston that was in it wasn't. Is it a must or will it be fine without them?

I always try and use oem gaskets whenever possible. But the allure of complete gasket kits for far less than one oem head gasket always attracts attention. If the base gasket looks nothing like the original than it's just wrong. Oem's are like $8.00. I have had bad luck, the only time i've tried an aftermarket head gasket on my tecate. Again the oem is $44, complete kit $28. Oem sealed right up on the first try. I know some people have had success with aftermarket, some haven't. I did use a complete aftermarket kit on a atc 185, and they worked fine though. So i guess sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you dont.

Probably just a screw up. Call Cometic direct and talk to them about it. http://www.cometic.com/

I've had nothing but great success with Cometic gaskets. They are really good quality. If anything its an ebay screw up.

    OEM gaskets are always best.

Well, its was a cosmetic screw up, it was still factory packed. I just went and ordered one from Kawi. It just sucks I had to wait 4+ days to get the piston kit and other parts, then once I finally get it ready to go together its the wrong freakin' gaskets. Oh well hopefully by next weekend I can ride it again.
