new lifian gy200 enduro

well we ordered a couple lifian 200cc enduros a little while back and they came today. After a little assembly they are looking pretty good. A brand new bike for 1200 cant really complain so far. Have yet to start them and put any miles on them but were going to take a little trip tomorrow and see how they do. here are a couple pics of one, the other is identical.

Hmmm it looks all right, but the legendary (and infamous) chinese durability predicts it will start losing parts quickly.

well, ive got a whole checklist (from chinariders.net) and went to the store today for a grip of locknuts and locktite. durring the first ride i will be constantly stopping and checking stuff. It will be fun. But really, im used to riding 20+yr old bikes...im used to working on stuff.

Thats classic right there....

I dont see why people say them chinese bikes are junk, I had several, you just get to get some locking bolts and lock tite (like you said) Just because they are way cheaper doesn't make them less reliable.

Is that plastic flexible at all or is it more like fiberglass? It looks stiff ?

Is that a 2 piece swingarm ?

Not bad looking for 1200 bucks .

Alot of the chinese stuff is built right along side the 'big name' stuff. One guy our business deals with sells tons of the lifan stuff and he actually has a picture of a chinese factory with a big yamaha sign across the top of the building and in front of the building is a huge rock that has 'lifan motors' or something of that sort on it. The picture was sent to him from the lifan company with some promo materials when he first inquired about becoming a dealer.

The chinese made stuff is getting better and better with every model year, supposedly they are going to be coming out with snowmobiles within the next year or two. The big guys are starting to sweat, now that there is some real competition to deal with their overinflated prices are going to have to come down eventually.

We have been using the chinese honda engines on sawmills for the last 7 years and only have maybe one come back every year for repairs and we build/sell an average of 40 mills a year.

We started importing the industrial diesel engines and generators this last year and they have worked beautifuly, from twin cylinder diesels to I6 turbo diesels.

I didnt believe it at first but in the last couple years as a part of this company my prospective has been completely changed.

There is still crappy chinese made stuff out there but you just have to look around, most of the problems with their stuff is simple quality control issues.

Last year the plastics were quite brittle on the lifan stuff but the new years stuff seems much better.

Well we were able to take them out today and put about 50miles on them. Didnt rip on them too hard (trying to break in properly) but from what we did im impressed. They have enough power for just crusing around and they start really easy. only complaint is that they are geared pretty low, so in the future i might be changing the sprocket for a little more top speed. (does mid 60's pegged in 5th). When we got home we started checking for lose bolts and nuts,,,, nothing really came undone. I guess we did a good initial job with the locktite and locknuts. The only thing that came lose was the chain needed to be tightend a little but that wasnt really a problem.

oh, another little annoying thing is that when you turn the blinker on it makes a beeping noise like a forklift backing up

I have to agree with tbirdscott; I used to sell Brand X Minis, just like the SDG mini bikes (107cc 125's, etc.) and they came off the same line. I still have my demo 107cc mini that I beat the living hell out of, crashed it, flipped it, etc. and it keeps going. The suspension sort of sux, but the motor seems to be holding up pretty well, and I keep that throttle pegged! ...I can remember back in the day when people said stuff from Japan sucked, well... 30 years later, people think good build quality is from japan... At least with quads, bikes and what not... What's to say that 30 years from now, we'll be like; yeah I thought the china bikes were junk, but they are pretty decent.... Scary world coming at us, that's for sure...

the plastic is a bit flexible, not as much as say atc fenders (maier)...but alot of the plastic is rubber mounted so that gives it aditional flex
the swingarm is one piece.
