That thing looks really nice Jeff..Something like that will be hard to go out and get dirty... But didn't you say once that it was going to be a garage queen?

Hey your build is really nice, everything is really went through. Probalbly gonna be the cleanest one out there. I know I should not post this here. I have always had honda's, and I just got a tri-z the other day. The only problem is the shifter was broke off, I made a shifter for it by bending a dirtbike shifter and spreading the hole. I searched on the site a little bit, but could find information on changing a tri-z shifter shaft. My big concern is do i have to split the case or just take the cover off. I dont want to split the cases the motor runs good. Can someone explain the process to me. thanx.
Thanks guys!!!!!
MK3RYAN, welcome to the boards! Where in NY? All you need to do is pop off the right side clutch cover and swap it out. Going to need a new gasket and a new shaft.
Been waiting for completion of this...
When will you have time to get it going?
Definately no expense spared. Betcha that motor cost a penny eh?
Looking good!
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

Rob, everything is here now. I hope to have it going by October. Get it broke in and ice race hopefully. Yeah I have a ziplock full of receipts incase I ever have to sell it. I dont ever want to total them up. Its from literally everything I ever bought for it. Believe it or not the motor didn't cost a whole lot. I probably have about $1500 into it with Bigbore kit, carb, clutch basket, intake, reeds, barnett clutch kit, all new bearings, seals, hi-flo pump, hagen stator cover, ricky stator, cool head.
I built this to keep for the rest of my life. I would sell everything before it. I want a to build a really nice TRX 250R next. As I believe it is the sweetest quad ever built.
But after riding Keisters 250R...That may very well change! That thing is mucho fun. But so tiny compared to a tri-z. Really love what you did with your R Rob. Looks BA!
Spent some time this morning working on wiring up the lights on the Tri-Z. Thanks for the message DirtCrasher. LOL. This is what I found on the inside of the light.
Since this is a 24 year old electrical system I decided to give it a tune up. All of the connectors on this harness were all green with corrosion. Not a good thing. So I decided to get a japanese electrical connector kit from K&L and rework the harness. This came in handy when I wanted to wire in a set of lights.
Old connector. New one to be installed and crimped properly.
Stock tri-z light pigtail modified for lights.
The way I wired the lights I was going for a street bike look here. I have them wired so that when the lights are on lo-beam just a single light will illuminate. When hi-beam is utilized both lights will illuminate. This is done by using a connector like this.
All wired up!

Hey whats up thanks for the info. i live in lowman, its by elmira, and ithaca. Can the yamaha dealers still get many parts for tri-z's or is there a good place online.
very very pretty jeff. can't wait to see it done.
Just got word from Jason the project is going ahead, need that guard if you still got her.
Now get that effing bike done so I can bathe in it's beauty!
I have been wanting to fab up an exhaust spring bracket for a while now. This part is long discontinued and I was finally able to score one on ebay. The original ones were about .062 thousandths thick. I got some nice 17-4 stainless sheet that was about .118 thousandths thick.
Mounted up.
