Eric in due time my friend. The engine will be a while. I have a ton of parts on order @ the dealer I work at. I have seen to many guys "rebuild" motors and not do what needs to be done. They figure one bottom end for every two top ends. This motor was on 68.50. Which is the second run for the bottom end. She is definetly tired. All the sealed bearings had signifact bubbling on the seals themselves, which means one thing RUST! Crank bearings didnt seem to terribly bad. But whats the point of spliting the case and not changing them. This wont be a whine and complain thread when I have a cosmetically good looking bike with a junk motor because I didn't take the time to do it RIGHT!

    Well said.....

I cannot believe anyone would split a motor without changing crank bearings and or seals and many people do.

It's funny how people don't have the money to "do it right" but they do have the time and money to do it twice.

These OEM powerplants lasted almost 25 years in some cases. Then you have guys here that "rebuild" them and they rebuild them in STOCK form so there should not be a reliability issue. But, 2 weeks later comes the post " my engine seized" or "my tranny isn't shifting right" amongst many other problems.

Take your time, do it right and be done with it!!

    Nice build Jeff!!

    Thanks Steve!

Yeah maybe that was a little bit of a rant post but I mean lets look at the contributing factors here. Not mentioning names but there are alot of guys doing some great things to keep these bikes up to date and so on that get these things "finished" and next thing you know its, "At my whits end", "Motor blown up", "I need crank bearings", "Hopefully this fix's it or all my bikes are forsale". Suck it up come on. I plan on this trike lasting me for a while or at least long enough for me to realize I want to build another or something else. So what, I know I will loose my ass but its been a hell of alot of fun doing it. If some of these guys get frustrated over a $250 dollar carb not running right then I hate to see what the hell they are really like in there normal day to day life with a wife and kids and a job too boot!

Fresh outta the MF'ing' oven man! This is what the motor looks like mocked up. Color is Gunmetal grey metallic from columbia coatings in tennessee. Boy is this thing sharp to the eye in the sun! God I cant wait to get this thing together! No expense spared yet again. All OEM in the bottom. Crank will get trued up with a new rod and the pin tig welded in. Hope to be able to keep a wine glass on the seat LOL. Just teaser I had an early day from work and couldn't wait to finish powdercoating her!

bad to the bone. it must be hard to look at it without having it together to be able to ride it. how long you think before its done?
A Rental Car is the only true all-terrain vehicle.
" I actually think it is good that you have clubs where people can go and enjoy riding these things together. It reminds me of how the prisoners on death row have fun waiting for their turn on the electric chair. Fair enough, the trike isn't an electric chair, but it is about as safe and comfortable as one."

Yeah it is. I rode it once. Scared myself. Bought it. Tore it down. Threw it in my car and have been building and aquiring parts ever since. Maybe this summer. Maybe not. Still have to do all the motor work and what not. Lots more parts on the way......

Late night again working on the wheeler. Got rad's installed and plumbed with new silicone hoses. They do require some triming as they are not "perfect" length's but do fit nicely. I recommend for anyone buying the hoses to inquire about Mike's worm clamps he offers. They work nice! Waiting on OEM suspension shock bolts to install the shock and dogbone assembly. Front tire came in and need to get front wheel powdercoated this weekend. Not far from a roller. But a ways before shes done.

Thanks for the compliments guys...Didn't get much done today other than powdercoating the front rim super mirror black and mounting the new 489 tire i got for the front 23 incher instead of 25. Looks sharp with the blacked out wheels and white hubs.
