what rear ends/swingarms will fit my '94 'wolf? can i use one from a moto-4?

also, can i download a shop manual?

Depending on the year, I believe some of the rear ends from the YFM 250 XR --Which is a "Bear Tracker" will work, but I am not absolutely sure.

Get a Clymer Manual. Cheap and accurrate.

Aren't the Beartracker and the Timberwolf different names for the same machine? Just like the old Kodiak 400 was turned into the Big Bear when Yamaha came out with an automatic 400 and decided to call it the Kodiak instead?

Yes, RedRider, they are. But -- it is all dependent on the year. The Timberwolf was a 4wd version of the BearTracker, and I think was available in a 350 (???????) and even in a 2wd (?????).

I'm Not perfectly sure. Not a big Yammie man (as you can see in the sig). But I do know FOR SURE that a guy I know bought a BearTracker motor/tranny off ebay that bolted stright into his Timberwolf. I am just not sure of the year. I think both bikes were a 1999.

The only Yamaha that was available in 350 was the OLD Big Bear, I believe. It also came in like 600 different varieties, 2wd, 5 speed, 10 speed, 4wd, etc etc etc.

Timberwolf is a 229cc as is the beartracker....beartracker started production in 99...timberwolf continued until 2000 in 4wd configuration...beartracker is 2wd only...

My sister just got a timberwolf and Ive had it in the polebarn for about a month now. Ive used it to do a few chores around the house and found I dont like it at all. No Offense intended here. Its just that my old big red will work circles around it. I figure its because of the 250 motor and 4x4 while the big red is only a 3x2. The big red will pull loads that the timberwolf cant move. Though steering is some times an issue. Its hard to drive while sitting on the front rack!!

This is of course absolutely of no use to you in finding a rear swinger. but just food for thought, park it and get a BR.

Watch ebay and any other parts sources (search some of the boneyards- you might be surprised).

I am not gonna sit here and tell you to get a big red versus the Beartracker or timberwolf. Speaking from personal experience, That Beartracker will down right impress you for it's size. I don't know what Gunnar's probem is, but mine has plenty of pulling power and is perfect for what it is. A real little beast, actually.

well, i know now that a bear tracker r/e is 1 inch wider and 4 inches longer with dif. splines... not the same... but it turns out to be only a bearing... can any1 send me a diagram or help me figure out how to break it down (the r/e) cuz im broke as a joke... ha.

the beartracker is a beast and that 250 was bulletproof. get you some 22 inch bearclaws on the back when you get it going.
