what would make a 200 hard to shift?

just threw a 200 together and it is a dog to shift... it is much harder than it should be. I never split the cases - perhaps I should have?

is there something I could have done wrong? I put new clutches and springs in it and the clutch is adjusted properly...

sometimes you can hear a loud click when it shifts

What Howdy said, it could be a variation of things. I bought a Clymer manual and used that as a picture reference for my shifter linkage assembly on my 200x. Dont be afraid to pull that case off and have a look, it might be something simple.

i used a haynes during assy.. well - i looked at the pictures at least.

I got on it today to let one of my friends ride it and see what he thinks about it but it was shifting normally.

that bottom end could have been sitting around for a while - i wonder if it had to get some break-in going on?
