What is the best way to replace cam chain sprocket?

What is the best way to remove and replace the little cam chain sprocket on the crank? Last time I used a puller fron an auto store to get it off and beat it on with a deep well socket. The puller seemed to work good, but beating on the crank to slide the sprocket on seems a little distructive. Is there a better way? Thanks.

get a split set collar, and have them cut out for your puller (like a 3 jaw puller works great) and put it on there, tighten it up and pull them off....i know it works, i used them to pull the crank bearings off my 200x and the crank sprocket you are talking about!!!! hope this helps

What about getting the new sprocket on the crank? Beating it on with a deep well socket seems to be bad for the bearings. What's the best way? Thanks
