The properties of the 85-86 stock 250R and 1989 CR250R headgasket.

I am writing this thread because I do not know of any like it, or I just can't find one. So here it is, the properties of the stock Honda 85-86 250R headgasket and the Honda 1989 CR250R headgasket.

The stock gasket that came with Honda's 85-86 250R's were metal and made of of three layers. The sizes for each layer is as follows:

    The complete gasket is .038in.
    The thin pieces are .009in.
The thickest middle piece is .020in.

The CR head gasket is .009in thick. Its the same thickness as one of the thin layers on a three layer stock 250R head gasket. So the difference between the stock 85-86 250R ATC head gasket thickness and the 1989 CR250R headgasket is .029in. So if we all grab our feeler guages we can see the difference and how much closer our heads get to the jug when we use the 1989 CR250R head gasket.
