    200x or auto x?

I'm having trouble deciding which to put in my 200x. Currently it has nothing. I have a very low budget, as i'm about to go to uni, so ive been drawn to the 200s or 185 or similar. However, i keep having the feeling that i should be putting an original 200x motor back in. Whats a 200s auto x like to ride in comparison to the proper 83-85 200x?

i ridding a auto-x with a 185 motor, its fun. i am curently building a auto-x also with a 1980 185 motor. neither will be as fast as a 200x but thru word of mouth you can use the botteom end of either motor and use the top end of the 200x...then it would have more power if you like mixing and matching motor parts.

running motors on ebay are going for about 200 bucks, then you need electronics, carb, some other odds and ends and your need to make a custom rear brake pedal also to clear the auto clutch case.

In my personal Humble opinion - unless you will be doing any racing or the like - a 200S motor will be fine. I really prefer the auto clutch in the tight woods - no clutch work. The S engine is only like 2 HP less if that. Also - with the S engine - you never have to worry about the kick start gears which are kind of problematic with the X engine. You can also get a GOKI electric start kit which makes your Auto-X have a nice advantage. If your primary use will be trails - go for the S engine. If it's performance you are looking for - keep it stock with the X engine.
