Resto Ideas for my new 250R?

I just bought this 250R the other day. It's in great shape to be an 82. I'm going to restore it. I'll do all the usual stuff: Paint the frame new plastic, etc. But I want to really make it pop! Any Ideas on how to make her really stand out. Especially performance wise. This is a completely stock engine. I pretty much have an open checkbook on this restore. any ideas?

chrome or nickel the frame. Cosmic Quad seat that is crazy. Just do things nobody else had done. Get away from all the stock colors and it will stand out.

Maybe it's just me, but I would leave it how it is, or restore it to be original. That thing looks bone stock and 100% original from what I can see.

1 vote for stock. Too nice to screw with! I have a 81 left stock, but not quite done with. If it was not as nice I would say go for it.

I would have to say that it's already a standout. It looks to be all original, other than seat cover and rear tires. Super clean original trikes really draw the attention in my oppinion. It's all in the details, even down to the correct fastners. I have to agree, its to nice to really go crazy on with color change up. As far as performance. Keep it basic. Possibly bump cranking psi's, 160-170 on a nice precisely cut and fit top end. Quality reeds, still common full D.G exhaust, and a 34-36mm keihin pwk style carb. Open up the airbox, but nothing that you would regret down the road. Say permanent altering or cutting, and careful tuning and i would have to say it would run about as hard as that first gen chassis can safely handle. This combo would satisfy nearly all trail situations, as well as areas of sand, yet would be nearly as reliable as a stocker. Quality fuel wouldn't hurt either, if psi's are bumped. Ya found yourself a nice R, thats for sure. Enjoy

That sure is a nice machine,I would get a brochure on that R and put her back too how it rolled off the assembly line myself.I think I personally appreciate seeing the NOS restored machine's better than the custom's.Custom's in my shop come from a combination of machine's ,not so much complete unmolested machine's.Good luck with the build with whatever you decide too do.
