sounds like it is getting starved for gas - too much air in the air gas ratio is leaning her out - thus the revving - does it stall out right after it idles high or not? Is the gas flowing freely into the carb? Pull off the gas line at the carb and see

it poors out of the line from the gas tank and it poors out of the carb.

sounds like your float is sticking - after it revs real high does the engine just shut off?

Do you have an air compressor and a can of carb cleaner?

    Remove your carb.

remove all items pointed at in picture.

Spray a generous amount of carb cleaner into the small holes in the jets and all openings in carb - don;t miss anything.

Use your air compressor then to blow out all holes. Use you air compressor to blow into every nook, cranny, and port in the carb. Don't miss anything.

Reinstall carb and let us know how you made out.

do the same on the jets you remove too! hold them up to the light - you should be able to see thru them before reinstalling

ok, well i took it all part again and cleaned the hell out of it, the jets are clean and clear, the float moves good and every thing else is clean. but i put it back on filled it with gas, pulled the rope and it still did the same thing. started and then idled for about 5 secs then started to rev higher and higher. i am only running 1/2 the exhaust could that be making it do that? (it broke off)

thats the only exhaust i have on it.

oh and i dont have the air fillter hooked up yet.

have you played with the idle adjustment screw yet? It is a screw with a spring on it - you'll need to turn it in or out with a screw driver. Also - what condition is your throttle cable in? I had a bad cable that hung up once and it made it rev to the moon. Check that out too.
