Ok guys I just got my trike back together and now it won't start
I sprayed starter fluid in the air intake and that didnt do it. I have good compression and spark anyone have any other ideas I should try.

timming could be off. if you have compression and sprayed starting fluid in there it should have fires. recheck the timing. remember just because you have spark dont mean you have spark at the rite time.
down to parts because i no longer have a place to ride trikes.

How do I check the timing. Working on it isn't the same as working on my car.

The guy who sold it to me was only gonna use it as a parts trike I couldn't let that happen. I'm looking for a honda now, but cash flow is low.

It cant be timing since its a 2 stroke. If you have fuel, spark, and compression the only thing I can tell you is you flooded it out

OK OK, I know I'm a noob here, however I am also a freelance mechanic and I can't help but state the obvious. For an internal combustion engine to run you need fuel, spark, and finally oxygen. How's the air filter on that thing? Have you tried starting it without it. Because man everything starts on ether unless you drown the plug with it in which case there won't be a spark cause the current will just travel through the soaked electrode. If it still won't start with the air filter off and just a couple huffs of ether you may have weak spark in which case the compression in the cylinder is actually suppressing your spark so as not to achieve combustion. There's alot of variables here and I need more specifics to really know which route to take in diagnosing this. If your compression is too low she won't pop either.

Tried without the air filter it still didn't work.
When I bought it the piston wasn't even in the bike. Now I'm a pretty decent car mechanic and I figured I could get this thing running. I bought the new piston kit from my local dealer had my recoil starter rebuilt because it wasn't retracting right. Still wouldn't start so I put some starting fluid in there and it still wont work the only thing I can think of if it isn't flooded which I guess is a possibilty is that this guy blew the rings drove it home and gouged the cylinder walls causing me to lose just enough compression to make it a pain, but it didn't look scratched when I looked.

but I didnt spray right into the cylinder I sprayed into the intake so that could be why.
