? about 250sx triple tree

Just got a Honda 250sx from a friend. It is in great condition, however, with the handle bars straight, it definitely is turned to the right. Not sure one or both forks are tweaked, or if it just needs adjustment. Can you adjust such a thing? Don't have a manual yet.

if your forks are bent you will need new ones.

Is the entire front end turned compared to the bars or is it just the tire? If the forks are at different heights then they will cause the tire to lean.

If the forks are bent there not junk first off. Take them too a machine shop and they can straighten them with a set of v blocks and a good shop press.

I'm thinking they are bent. The tire points a little to the left, when the bars are straight. Thanks for the info.

get them to a machine shop they should be able to fix you up real nice. Alot of members have preformed this with great success. Keep us updated

I've got a good machine shop here locally, they've straightened the occasional axle out with great results. Do I disassemble the shock or leave it as a whole unit to have it straightened?

I would tear them down to the tubes itself. just my opinion

Looks like there might be some adjustment between the upper and lower clamps on the triple tree? Is this right? I'm going off of the microfische at bikebandit. this might be what gives it the twist. Anybody messed with this, what's the procedure?

There are 4 bolts on each side (2 in each triple for each side), loosen them all. Now pull up on the front end via the triples not the forks and tap the forks on top with a rubber . Get them so they are level with each other and Get the fork Tube tops about a 1/4" above the top triple. Get the tubes either flush with the triple or let them stick out a 1/8" or so.

There is no other adjustment

you might be able to stand tn front of the trike put the wheel between your legs and twist it the other way and straitin the wheel. worked for me

Thanks fellas, will try that when I get home...so no twisty adjustment between the top clamp and the bottom clamp eh? Looks like (in the fiche) that they are separate peices. May have to just tear it down to see.

The only twisty thing there is a nut that holds the top triple in place
