Exclamation 1985 TRX125 rear axle problems

hi i just bought a 1985 Honda TRX125 and my friend who i bought it from had ridden the rear bearings down so much that they are completely ruined and i think that the bearing holder is wrecked too. i was wondering if anyone knew what it would take to replace these and if its just easier to buy a new rear end.
thnx for the help in advance guys.

if the carrier is worn it would be easyer to just get one...maybe on ebay, then throw new bearings in that one

I agree is the carrier is worn it's time to replace it.

I think I may have a axle a carrier let over if you need one.

well i was thinking of getting a new rear end all together but i only paid $100.00 for the quad and the only replacement rear end i saw in the paper was $400.00 so was hoping i could fix it. are there any quads with a similiar rear end that i can modify to fit on mine? and how much would another rear end cost about? maybe the one i saw was overpriced

$400!! That is way to much for a rear end. I had a TRX125 & I sold it for 400 or 450. I have to go over to the barn tomorrow I will see what I have. I wonder if you could just switch the carrier & every thing & use a ATC125 rear end?

yah i know thats what i thought too. but i got the rear end apart and my old bearings are all rusted in. i was wondering what i could use to get the old ones out?i was planning on using a slide and trying to knock it out. one of them is completely gone and only the outer part is held in. and the other is just covered in rust. and i was wondering how much a rear end might cost? or even just the part that holds the bearings?

well i got them out and i was wondering what you meant by the carrier. thats the part that houses the bearings and part of the brake right? and its actually in better shape than i thought it was. i heated it up with a small torch to get them off and i just used a and center punch. oh and is it cheaper to get dealer bearings or can i go to another place that specializes in bearings and things like that?

I think you can get "industrial" bearings at a bearing shop for cheaper than Honda brand ones...

Yep the carrier has the brakes & bearings. There is a member here who sells bearings. His name is DADS. From what I hear his bearings are top notch. I guess they might cost a little more though, but every one says they are worth it. Other wise I would look on line for them.

Yeah it shouldn't be that hard to get some bearings at a bearing shop, just measure your carrier inside diameter and axle outside diameter...
