alright so we cut the frame and got the motor in it.
But the back motor mount makes the engine too far left and the chain dont line up worth a hell so were gonna try and move it over and make it alligned!

any help guys? we could use it

This actually surprises me that it wasnt a direct fit.. with minor adjustments. But then you have electric with pull start.... But the middle cases I would assume are the same for the 2. Can you take picts? I have the 86 trx200sx, myself but I sold my 86 200x a couple years ago. I remember comparing them because it would be nice for the reverse. But it was a fleeting thought. So I have this correct you are putting a trx200sx engine into the 200x correct?

I believe that the top ends swap but not sure about the lowers. BUT, the 86 200X does have mounts on it for a starter... So I'd guess that the center case is the same?? Let us know whats up....

Well we cut the back mount off now the motor bolted in with the bottom mount but its to far over so now we gotta cut that mount move it over and reweld it and then get a bigger bolt and a spacer. then cut and make the front mounts work =]
but its gonna be sweet once were done

Glad it's gonna work out for ya.

I'm assuming that the 2 center cases from a 200SX are NOT identical to the 86 200X?????

That makes me wonder why the 86 200X have the starter bolt mounts??

And, what about the Honda fat cat? Where does that engine fall into place with the 200SX and the 86 200X??

    Anyone know??

I'm stumped, I can't believe the center case is that different. Maybe it's the Honda FATCAT that shared the center case because for some damn reason the 86 200X has mounts for a starter....

Maybe someone can clear this up???????

Got me too Dirtcrasher,I just looked up on the fische on the 200sx,the 200 fat cat and the 200x.On the right case the x and the fatcat are the same, the 200sx is different, and on the left case all 3 of them have different part numbers on the cases..I guess I learned something today,i alway's thought they were avirtualy the same, minus clutching and some smaller thing's.

Hmm now I am even more curious, is it because of those mounts they are talking about then, that parts numbers/cases are different? OR do we really have three unique engines(bottom ends)? with some similarities? If that is the only thing that changed.. THEN mmm possibilities, because generally cases themselves changed to accomidate recoil, forward kick, backward kick and it usually was in the outer cases...
When I first read this I was very surprised there were differences,,I learned something as well...

not to change subjects or anything, but i thought i have heard on here somewheres that an 85 x motor would fit right in... anyone know if this is true or not?

There are no similarities between the 85 and 86 200X frame or engine or suspension for that matter.

Who'd want a crummy old 5 speed anyhow
