    Thumb throttle stiff...

Has anyone ever tried to cut the slide spring so that it has less tension on the throttle ? I didn't want to just cut without asking here first.

Try a new Cable first, you can lube old ones to the nines, but still be stiff

Exactly, unless someone switched springs or really stretched it out it shouldnt be stiff, a cable costs like $10 new through kimpex.

when you cut springs it increases spring rates.
check cables, throtle lever, etc. than check with the carb manf. for different springs last, the spring is actually the issue with the CV Series mikuni on my 350X

Like GP said it will increase the tension.

I replaced the throttle and cable with new ones and that's when it got so stiff it's hard to accelerate smoothly. I lubed it and it didn't make a difference, so I disconnected it and it's fine. I took the spring out of my other YTM and hooked it back up and it works like it's supposed too. Maybe I should just order a new spring, could have been changed at some point.
