We priced out a lift before, and the only ones I can find are all the same, they only lift it 4", and since this truck has ladder style suspension, the kits cost about 2000-2500$ That doesnt include new shocks/struts either. Including those it would be about 3000$ total. Not really worth it for that little of a lift.

I wanted to get some of the black spoke Daytona rims, and if I did get that kit then I could get up to 35" tires, I was gonna go with Mud Terrains. Might still do it anyways even if I dont get the lift, just smaller version of the tire.

The front fenders are on, and the hood will be on today, and hoping to get the grille valence painted soon here. After that I can attach it to the grille and have that put on.

Update!!! Front end is finished!!!! With the exception of the hood needing to be adjusted forward slightly, the front end is done and ready to go. Biggest thing holding it up are the brakes, and changing a few filters. More pics!!! Enjoy!!! Sorry about some of the pics, the lightings poor and the cameras a piece. Nothings been buffed yet, so it looks dusty.

You can definately tell theres a color change...I think the new color looks a lot better.

Gotta get the floor stance in.

Changing an antenna...yes you really do need to take all that apart. CD player has been added,,more interior pics soon.

Scored these Pioneers for free...they sound great!

I got these before I got the grille, and decided to go with the older style, so I dont need these,,,brand new, trade for trike parts maybe?

Nice work man, those fenders and hood came out nice. I have similar plans for my truck, but I'm going with one of the gray W/T grills instead of the ugly cracked one I have now. I threw in a pic of mine, its an 89 chevy 1/2 ton, 4x4 with the 4.3 and a 5 speed. i wish it was a 350 but I guess it makes up for it with better mileage. i plan on doing a lot of the same stuff to mine that you did to yours, new front fenders, cab corners, etc. I have new fender arches for the rear too to go in soon. the last pic is the night I got it up on the lift, its had a lot of work done since then

As far as exhaust, dude just do what sounds good to you we all have different tastes. I've had cherry bombs, dynomax and flowmaster and theyre all a little different depending on what your looking for. If you want a cheap way to get a little more performance it doesnt hurt to throw K&N on there with a dynomax and *modified* (gutted, haha) catalytic converters. Headers are cool too, just depends on how much your willing to spend.

If your looking for just an inch or two of lift you can always try a shackle flip in the rear and tweak the torsion bars a little (depending on where there at now, dont want to go too much). Thats not the best way to do it, but sometimes an inch or two is all you need to give you enough clearance when going from 32's to 33's or so. And if you want to go bigger, get out the sawzall or the plasma cutter and start cutting, haha. just realized thats not such a great idea considering the new fenders...

if you want any more info, heres another site you can check out thats pretty good with the full sizes and lifting, www.coloradoK5.com

Looks good man, post more pics as you go, lookin great!

Whoa!! Kinda looks like I forgot about this thread!!! ^^^Thats not a bad looking truck Chevy200s!! I checked out the link but it seems they kinda are more with the older style Chevys (should still be good as we might build a couple of those too ).

Well I guess its time for the finished product. Not 100% done, still needs a few things like the hood needs to be tweaked slightly, and the trim and license plate mount for the front bumper. But overall its finished and im driving it,, and its just itchin to go on our Hatchers Pass trip this weekend!!!

Little dirty from driving it! But thats the way it should be!

Other side,, check out how much the new paint reflects compared to the old paint

Dash is done, CD player and speakers are in,,,but should the dice stay??

One thing though, my speedo stopped working the other day, but it worked when I parked it and didnt when I went to drive it again? I replaced the speed sensor, speedo itself, the circuit board, and the entire guage cluster, and the fuses, and it still doesnt work?? The speed sensor was 100$ alone and its nonreturnable, and Im out of ideas....anyone else got one??

Hey thanks for the compliments man, it still has a long way to go, but thats ok I have panels and a plasma cutter waitin to go, hehe.

Dude your truck came out NICE!!!! I was thinkin, until you get the time/money to repaint the rest of it, why not try rubbing out the older oxidized paint? Just get a few things of Mothers or Turtle wax rubbing compound, might bring some color back. either way, the truck looks 100 times better than it did, nice work!!!

as far as the speedometer, I hate to say it but thats a common problem on these trucks, along with the trip odometer going out. Hmmm, if you've replaced everything else it probably wouldnt hurt to see how everything looks down by the tranny. There should be a cable that goes from the speedo or speed sensor (cant remember, its been a while) down to an inlet on the transmission where a gear is spun inside that tells how fast your going. if I remember right thats just a plastic gear and they've been known to get worn teeth/get knocked out of place, that might explain why the speedo has been spotty? Either way, good luck with it, maybe the Haynes manual has some ideas?

Truck looks good man, and dont worry about the truck being dirty, its a Chevy, it can handle it!!!

Edit: Hell yeah the dice should stay, gotta be redneck pimpin yo, goes good with your new grill! get it, because its a grill and thats now a ghetto term and oh man I gotta kill this pun now...haha, yeah I totally had to go back and edit just to say that

Thanks, I too think it looks a lot better, I dont think I took a pic of it before, but with the old fenders on it, if you looked straight on to the front end, it looked bent to the side, because one fender was dented in and the other was dented out (I have no idea how they managed to dent it OUT as far as they did )

We will be doing buffing and all that fun stuff to the rest of the truck, but I wanted to do it all at the same time, you supposed to wait a week or 2 before you buff out the new paint also, so that will happen soon. I might try that mothers trick on the tail lights, ones got a nasty white scuff mark on it.

as far as the speedometer, I hate to say it but thats a common problem on these trucks, along with the trip odometer going out.
Man thats not what I wanted to hear!! Both the trip AND the odometer went out along with it. Its all electronic, so theres no cable from the sensor to the guage, just a wire. And the sensor is on the transfer case. Its also a magnetic sensor, so the only things I can see it being now are the wire or maybe something happened to the magnet in the transfer case? But I dont know how either couldve happened since it worked when it was parked and didnt when I came back?? The wire connection was tight. Something I forgot to mention too, was after it died, the check engine light came on, and we read the code and that said it was the sensor, and now that I replaced it, the light turned off but it still doesnt work? It didnt show any signs of going out like cutting out or anything, I came back and it was just...dead. Idk its just annoying as hell that its doing this.

Oh yeah, It can handle this mud, just wait till we go up the mountain this weekend!! Hopefully we will be going and we will get it DIRTY!!!!

Cool project, makes me miss my 97 3/4 ton. Im building a replica of it with a 427 currently.

Any big plans down the road for this rig? I tend to go for the "insanely overbuilt overweight" kinda fullsize rigs with smallish (35) tires.

Later on when I have some extra money, Id like to get a lift kit, some BFG Mud Terrains (35") on a set of black Daytona rims (15 or 16"). Id also like to get a Diamond headlight kit and an HID kit. Last thing Id like to do is get a 400 crank and rods and make it a 383 stroker. Still planning on a new exhaust too.

Does anyone have any info on the speedo problem? Im really at a loss at what it could be.

    Dammit!!!

Man Im PISSED!!! This things had a slow oil leak, which in and of itself isnt bad,,,Ive been checking it every Saturday, usually takes over a month to get low, but I just went out and checked it tonight and there antifreeze in the oil!!! Now I gotta tear the damn thing apart, and I dont know yet if its a gasket, head, or cracked block. Its gonna be out of commision for a while, so now I dont have a vehicle for at least a week. grrrrrrrrrrrr....

Well its back together finally and the coolant in the oil seems to be fixed, along with the oil leak, but now its got a bigger problem. It runs like sh!t, almost like its missing, when its at a higher RPM it doesnt sound as bad, but when it idles lower it doesnt wanna run as well. My dad took it for a short test drive to see what it was doing, when he got back we popped the hood and both exhaust manifolds were BRIGHT F*CKING CHERRY RED!!!! He hasnt seen this happen before, and apparantly nobody else has, so does anyone on here know whats going on??? This things been down for 3 weeks now, and im pissed because it has more problems now that its been rebuilt then it did before. Im a die hard Chevy fan, but im about fed up with so much crap breakin that im about to buy a ford...

did you get any dummy lights or check engine lights when your dad took it out for a test?
the only reason for the exhaust to get that hot is running the engine really hot (dummy light should have come on) or the guage should have read in the really hot range.
OR your exhaust is plugged and not breathing ( could be why it's running like *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited*) and the back pressure is creating heat build up.
check your tail pipe for obstructions if its not that check the catylitic converter it may be plugged and creating back pressure (which will eventually kill (destroy) the motor.

I am not a mechanic and I dont play one on tv but that is my best guess.

    good luck with it.

You did headgaskets to fix the oil leak, right? This truck has a distributor, correct? Check your timing, with a light. Despite common belief, "going by sound" is usually way off.
