Arrow my trike an its mods?

alright .. so i've got an 85 200S (mostly). first off it's not like any of ma buddys' 200's .... theres no downshifting to a higher gear. N is all tha way down an it goes up from there to 5th ... i've not seen any other 200's like this.

alright this is where it gets a bit tricky (for me) ... ma trash talkin lil bro said this bike will never beat his suped up YZ80 (it's fast!). so i'm settin this bike up ta smoke em. i've got 22x10x9 tires, +2 rear axle, a K&N filter bolted directly to tha carb, and i just bored it 20 over for the new 12:1 wiseco piston. it also has an aftermarket slip on exhaust that isn't very good (but better than stock)

should i do something with tha head? ie: new valves or springs, port an polish maybe? what about the cam an rockers. the carboreatur (spelling) is stock as far as i know, and i'll have to take it to ma buddy cuz thas like try'n ta teach me swahilli ... too confusing (temp, altitude, dry wet, mods).. anything else?

what's tha best route to take on puttin ma bro in a cloud of dust!

umm I'd say go for the 200x or a 250r.. it's a bit easier to make race ready haha

    yea that would do it.
but if you want to stick with the 200s, i would go for a 12:1 exhaust, and air filter like you said, a cam, valve springs and a carb. that should do it. but if your planning on going fast, it will be rough because you have no rear suspension. i would buy a sport trike.

    Huzzah fellow FLA rider.

Your in for an awful lot of work to beat a YZ80, if its tuned decently and running right. That 12:1 piston, the clamp on filter, and the exhaust will help but your gonna need a lot more. Whats your budget $$$ wise?

i have a high strung 200s engine. it takes a while to build it if you dont have money (like me). anyway here is what i did to mine. i hope it helps ya.

bored 3mm, 10.25:1 compression wisco piston and rings, 200x cam, ported head, bassani exhaust, lighten flywheel, 200x carb, and D.I.D performance cam chain and of course 93 or higher octain fuel.

if you want better speed mess with the sprockets too. tire size also plays a roll in speed.

by the way. welcome to 3ww
down to parts because i no longer have a place to ride trikes.

First off is a new full exhaust system. The head pipe on the 200s is very restrictive, just putting a slip-on muffler won't cut it.

After you get a nice exhaust, I would get a XR200 carb, XR cam, and port job. If you want to dump more money into it then an aftermarket cam with stiffer springs would be a good choice.

As always make sure it is turned and jetted perfect, an engine that is built great but poorly tuned is a waste.

oh, for the sifting difference, honda changed around there shifting patterns, it depends on the year of the trike for what pattern you have.

when i got this bike it was nothing but a frame with a motor sittin on 3 flat tires ... almost completely restored i decided to crank it up a notch .... i go ridin with 8 or so buddies that all have trikes (4 stroke 200's and 250's) ... i don't really care how long it takes to do ... i wanna beat everyone cept ma buddy worm ... he's gotta tri-z bored 80 over (no contest)

i'm juggling between work and school so ma budget is low ... ma bike is tore apart in tha garage and is slowly begining to peice itself back tagether ... the exhaust came with it but i was lookin at a cobra hi-perf. exhaust, seems to have quite a bit of flow ...

i was able to find some perf. valves, springs, an cam on tha web cams website ... is there any other sites i might be able to find the same stuff?

what is an xr200? dirtbike or somethin? any particular year?

Sorry, Welcome to the 3ww! and hell yea another FLA rider

Yea it's going to take some DEEP pockets and lots of creativity to compete with that bike..

The xr200 is an on and offroad dirtbike, they are street legal bikes too.. Now with that you would stand a better chance to compete with that YZ80

Haha here's one for you, I used to put a whooping on the warriors and blasters with my old KX100.. I think you should focus more on getting this trike together for some fun riding rather then making it a race bike

hell yea. the 200/200s is a nutty bike and does good in mud and such but isnt the fastest bike by any means. but if you get it pumped and tune it rite you will do ok i think. you wont be hanging with the z but the 80 you may do good.

You could always try to mount a KTM 300 motor in the cradle, and hope your brother is both blind and deaf.
