    Age Old Question 200x 250r or 350x

Ok so after all this talk about how there is only so much I can do to my 250sx to get any more power out of it. Ive been kicking around the idea of getting a 2nd trike.
I could use the sx for when me and the family go out for our peaceful little moutain sight seeing rides and use the back up for the "Boys" riding trips like the one comming up to Little Sahara Utah.

Im 6"3 and 230lbs so I dont know if a 200x is the best bike, however I do see them cheap out here all the time like $500-$700 range.

Ive been watching a 85' 350x thats goin for $1100.00 that just needs some minor cosmetic stuff to be a nice bike.

But then I keep seeing this 82' 250r thats in good shape and runs strong goin for $550.00. Or an 83' 250r with boost bottle in decent shape for $800.00

What do you guys think and why?

Go for the 350X, it's plenty heavy duty enough for you and the power is a lot freindlier for mountain trail riding and the boys could even ride it.

The R is lots more explosive, takes more skill and quicker reflexes to ride it right.

Only down side is there are a lot more top end parts to worry about on the X but they go a long time between rebuilds.

The 200X is a little weak in power for you but you might want to test ride one to see if it would satisfy you as they are lighter and can be tossed around easier.

I don't care for the 83-85 jobs, 86/87 are light years advanced and look much better too, they are also 6 speeds instead of 5 on the 3-5 models.

I had two of the 86's and even though they are not super fast, it's still my favorite trike out of the Honda family. They handle fantastic.

dont get a 200x, your big...please dont take that as a negative comment, the trike is on the smaller side. i am 5'6" 125lbs and fit it good..you sound like 350x material.

I would recommend the 350X due to your size as well. You'll be cramped on the air Rs or the 200X.

Performance wise, the 350X will run with an air fooler if not beat it (both being stock). The 200x can be made to run as fast or faster than either, but I think you will feel like King Kong riding a tricycle.

The 350X is a great "sight seeing" trike as well. Tons of low end and can idle around all day long.

For the "boys" rides, it will run strong, too. You can make a 350X as potent as the wallet will allow and keep up with just about anyone. Or in stock trim they can hang pretty well with most machines in the woods and only get left behind on fire roads and wide open stretches.

Keep us posted on whatever you decide.

I am a big guy and a 350x blows away a 200x, I had both. Its easy to ride and costs about the same. Fun bikes I would get another 350x if I could. I plan on rebuilding mine this winter.

IMHO the 350X does not blow away a 86/87 200X, they are very quick trikes especially if they have an exhaust on them. I think the weight difference helps out the 200X allot. I own both of them now and they are both fresh.

Of course my favorite trike is still the 350X though... But when I want to jump, I pull out the 200X. It leaps like a frog on crack

Anyhow, in your case I would definitely go for the 350X. It's got the low end grunt to drag a bigger person around. Not all of us are built like Hollister models

Those older 2 strokes can need allot of work, they've usually had a tough life....

Well the info has been great, I think Im going to really start trying to find a 350x and maybe even sell the 250sx so Im not so limited budget wise lol.

Unless there is someone anywhere close to Utah that has a 350x that may be interested in a trade or partial trade??

heck I love my 200x's I am 6 ft 1 and around 180lbs. I can throw that thing around, pick it up off the ground alone, bunny hop over things, and has enough power to fly around the local "track", and does great in the trails/woods. Don't get me wrong i love my 250 2strokes, but it is so nice to idle while watching something and not foul a plug. I have only ridden a 350x once and it did have more power, but I was not all that impressed. I can take out the local 400z's with ease, they don't like it but oh well
30 trikes of all shapes and sizes, Kawasakis, Yamahas, Hondas and a bunch of parts bikes
