Well I paid $625 CAD for a non running, cracked rear fender, busted headlight and almost bald rear tires '83 200x. Now, since I was assured it had a rebuilt engine, I didn't feel that I got ripped off. Even though the ba$tard lied which in reality means that I did get ripped off.
    ANYWAYS...
Yes there are quite a few parts still available for the '83 to '85 X's. More-so than the '86-'87. Performance parts are still decently available also, but I'm sure you know, it costs money to go fast.
I'm 5'10 160, and it fits me pretty good, it's a tiny bit small, but that just makes it easier to throw around. But honestly, if I had the chance, I'd have saved my money and waited for a 250R. You could probably get one for about the same price as that X.
And yes, an '85 motor will fit in an '83.

Damn. I don't know what the going rate for X's are where you live, but here you'd never find a nice running X for less than $800. I gotta move down there!

Yeah, the Canada guys have to take what they can get. Look how pissy we get when our EBAY part takes 10 days to get here. Imagine what it's like to wait a month and pay a tariff!!

I wouldn't even want anything other than the 86 200X. But an 83 isn't worth much more than 400 to 800$ around here....

the 83-85 200x is the same other than a few things like the swingers. motors will bolt rite in. as far as performance goes xr200 parts can be used as upgrades. well from what ive herd anyways.

now for price. around my little corner of ny trikes or any atv goes for allot. there was a beat 86 big red that sold for 1800.00 and a beat 350x sold for 3500.00. so it comes down to where you are and if there is a big market for them. pay what you think is fair.
down to parts because i no longer have a place to ride trikes.

    GIT IT RAAAGGGGG !!!!
