No Spark?

Ok I picked up a 1984 Honda atc 70 about 3 yrs ago. I got it running and all then it ran bad so it sat. I am in the process of sealing the gas tank, cleaning carb, etc.

I unscrewed the plug and kept it plugged into the plug wire and touched the tip of the plug to the metal head of the motor and put it in 4th gear like I was going to push start it and I do not see any spark.

Any Suggestions on why it isnt sparking?

It most likely going to be points, they are known for going bad. First check the obvious, try a new plug, check wire connections at the engine and the coil. But it will be points they go without warning. Good Luck

So I am kinda new how can I tell if the points are bad?

Well Thx I checked the wires and the one from the engine to the coil was just a little unplugged I pushed the wires together and now when I touch the plug to the head and push it in gear it gets pretty good spark.
