My 70 was running great when I turned it off for the night. The next morning it will not start. The spark plug has a nice fat blue spark when it is held 1/4 -1/2" from the head. When I actually touch the plug to the head, nothing.
Any ideas would be great, yes I've done a search. The points look to be in good condition.

Did you try a new plug? If it is sparking between the plug and the head you have the ability to create a spark but if it not sparking between the tip and the ground on the plug when you put it in the head it will not create a spark... I mean the electric has to go somewhere and it is supposed to arc in the plug gap, if you hold the plug away from the head and that is a path of least resisience then yes it will create a spark there. Make any sense???? kinda tough to explain.
