resurrect a wreck or fab up a trike

Hi guys, I’m about to resurrect a wreck this winter I have a 85 200x frame that looks good no welds or cracks visible at this time along with all the parts except motor and trans. I have 3 200s machines 2 are in excellent condition and wouldn’t dare to hack up but I was thinking of making a auto x using the beat up one as a donor however after some thinking I feel I want to go another way. I was at the poker run in rose city with all of you I had a great time and got a lot of good feed back from a lot of you and saw a lot of cool trikes so I think I’m going to let you guys decide on what I should build. First off if you were at the poker run I was the guy with the zilla I’m not a small guy and well its fast so getting back on a 200 just don’t get it but I really don’t need insane power either. I love 2 strokes but don’t mind 4 I want to build this machine to be my main bike for trails so I wouldn’t mind the gas mileage of a 4 stroke but will always love my 2 smokers. Any way let me know what some of you guys did or what you would do its stripped down to the frame now I’m going to blast it tomorrow or Friday at work and then decide on a color this week as well, this is a complete wreck but I just cant let it sit and rot! I will make a small web site about it and put up all the pics as I go as soon as I can as well and keep any one interested up to par as I said I have no direction on this project so I’ll leave its fate up to you guys (and gals)!

i would use the 200s engine since you already have it... and anywhere you need 2-stroke power your zilla would fit...

I've always wanted to make a KDX 200X.
Basically just use a Kawi KDX200/220 2 stroke motor in the X frame.
Doesn't really sound like what your looking for though.
If I was in your situation, I'd go with the 200S engine since it's there and you might as well use it for something!

I dont know, tough call. My brother bought a 200s and got both of us into trikes a few years ago. They are really fun bikes and erics 200s was perfect, you could throw that thing around in the trails like a bmx bike cause it was so small and light! Not having a suspension made it kinda painful to ride after a while though. They are fun little bikes to beat up on

thanks for some of the feed back!

Hmm TwoHundredEX you might be on to something there with the 200/220 kdx ill check into that one and your absolutely right atcaddict, there fun to put around on especially since I have a family and when we all go out we just have fun but the non suspension will beat you up if you get out there and start to have some real fun but eric if I want real power I just hop back on my zilla, im just after a fun bike for some of the the tighter trails and I love my trikes and would love a 350x but atm I have 3 200s, 85 tri-z, 87 zilla, a yx80 and the 85 x wreck so just have too many toys my s trikes are family fun as well as my hunting and ice fishing toys

but thanks guys all your feedback is appreciated even if its just constructive criticism keep it coming

The only thing I would be worried about with the KDX motor would be routing the pipe. I'm having a hard time with the pipe for my 175 in the X frame because of it's size, and I would assume a KDX would be the same, if not larger.

I have gave the KDX's some thought before... I have a KDX250 based engine going in my tecate... I always thought the 200/220's would be a sweet motor for a trail machine... If only I didnt weigh 215....

i had talked to a guy about building a 250x/300ex kick start motor in a 200x frame, it was a neat idea would it would of cost at least 2 grand to get me a that would hold the motor in 200x trim. i decided if i want more power then my 185s motor i can bolt in a XR200r motor...1986-2002.

powell i think makes big bore kits for the xr200, i think that would give you a perfect motor in a chassis that dont way much more then the xr200 dirtbike.
