    81 KLT200 Ignition Coil--Two Options?

The coil went bad on my KLT so I ordered a replacement on Ebay. It didn't fit and I figured the part had just been mislabeled so I ordered the OEM coil for this year from Kawasaki. It doesn't fit either.

Were there two coils for the KLT200? These coils (like the bigger one in the pic) don't look like they would fit where my stock coil was mounted without modifications to the frame.

If someone has an idea or could post a pic of how the coil is mounted on their KLT200 it would help a lot.

    Thanks,

Dead silence huh? Ha, ha. Well, I guess that's what I get for asking a question about the ever-unpopular KLT200.

I would really appreciate the help if anyone knows how this larger coil was mounted on my frame. The smaller coil (that came stock on my trike) is a TEC ZC003 and the larger is a TEC ZC007 if that helps.

coulda been a change by the manufacturer, and never was announced...etc. etc........
    have seen it happen before.

just get the new one mounted up, and wire it up. it should work fine.

make a mod to get it mounted, although i would wire it and make sure it works before making any mounting mods.

Pardon the ignorance but--one engine has points and the other has a cdi unit--is that right? Will this coil work anyway?

Edit: I found the info. Looks like I'm going to have to order a different coil. Bummer, the smaller coil is $102!

Thanks Red--that's just the information I needed.
