    Electric Start Motor?

    Hey all,

I'm totally new to 3-wheelers and despite my searches, I havn't found much good info yet. I have a 1984 200s. The motor in it now runs absolutley great but is pull start. I honestly cant pull it anymore. It's starting to really injur my shoulder (I hope I dont sound like a pansy! lol). I dont think the compression release is working so that might be why it's very hard to start.

I'm very curious is there is another model year or motor WITH electric start that is swappable. I'd like to keep the trike but the pull start is starting top make me not want to ride it for fear of hitting a compression stroke and yanking my arm back!

    Any info on this?

You can throw a Goki electric starter on it.

Is the that Big red bottom end going to bolt up to this little 200s motor? How about the motor mounts? Do they line up?

a 200E (82-83 Big Red) or a 200M will both fit in - motor mounts do line up, but you'll need to modify your front down tube on the frame to accept the electric start (clearance).

GOKI Electric Start is the way to go - they are about $300 and are easy to install. Takes about 1 hour. Bolts right up to your 200S.

Here is the link http://www.spinreel.com/goki-atv.html - you need Kit - ATC-105....................$321

Ahhhh, ok, I was under the impression the BR's were 350's. But I like the sound of that electric start. I wouldv'e never guessed they had a kit like that. Seems like the way to go. I think I'll start saving, lol.

Does anyone have personal experience with them? How do they hold up?

I purchased and installed one in June 2007 - has about 20 hours on it with no problems thus far.

Very easy to install - seems very low maintenance. When you see the kit - you'll see that there really isn't much that can go wrong with it. Flywheel gear teeth or solenoid would be about it. The solenoid could be replaced by making a trip to the local auto parts store - and as long as you have everything tight and in good working condition, the flywheel teeth should last a long time too!

They are kinda pricey, but very well worth it in my opinion.

I'd try to find out why that 200 isn't firing right off...

Goki's are sweet, but I'd only pay 300$ to see one on my 350X. For now, it starts first or second kick so until I get a bit older (LOL!!) I don't have a need for it.

I'm not familiar with the electric start motors that will fit your model ATC but I'd bet you could grab a whole motor for short money that uses E S.
