Thanks very much guys, your compliments are much appreciated... ,

I'm hosed i have to wait 3 weeks before i can start on the 450 again, but while i've been waiting on the triples i've been busy building my 85 250r flat track 'privateer' bike , this has kept me occupied as well as finalizing a few small issues with the 450 .

i'll try and get the wife to send me the pics of the new triples, so i can post them up.

Right, here you go,,,, these are the new billet triples, as you can see they are not totally finished, i still have a bit of machining to do for the trx 450 handle bar clamps, but that will not take long. These a practically an exact copy of the OEM triples, ie - rake is built into them.

That's about it for the moment.

Your wife has really sexy hands

They look really slick and nasty!! You guys must have worked together a bit to engineer all the dimensions and rake I imagine... Came out really great

Those triples did turn out real nice. I think they will compliment the bike well. I sure hope your running a trailing axle with the raked triples.

Cant wait to see some more pics!

    Hey Derrick,

Glad to see you or Jason chime in,, , ye Derrick for sure the axle will be trailing, it 's hopefully all figured out , well as much as can be before fitting and measuring ect - you know how it goes.

The triples are'nt finished yet still got some work to do on them but thanks to Jason/his mate the hard part is done.

I will be straight onto the 450 when i get home, so will hopefully have some new pics worth showing in a few more weeks.

    Thanks,

    Gordon.

Gordon and I talked alot on the phone about the triples. He knew just what he wanted, I helped relay everything to the machinist. I could'nt be at the machine shop every second, but I sure wanted to LOL. This job was kinda complicated because they were engineered as we went.

I'm sure by looking at his work on the rest of the bike, Gordon will have those triples looking real nice. I can't wait to see It rolling.

Thanks for the inspirational build and excelent coverage in your thread Gordon. After seeing some of your earlier posts i went and did a full 06 450R swinger, link and shock conversion on my 250R. I'm just finishing it off now but as you mentioned it is amazing how much hasn't changed in 30 years.

Your tripples that Jason has had made for you were obviously cnc machined. Does this mean there is a file somewhere and these can be duplicated for others to do the same conversion?

Also, what is the model of the USD forks you are using?

    Cheers Brett.

    Brett,

Cool,,, ,this is what i was hoping for, am glad my post has helped you in some way to ease the hassle of upgrading/converting your 85/86 to the new technology that is out there.

Question - did you find my info/pics detailed enough?

Here is the link to the shocks i have, these were shortened to the same length as the Honda OEM shocks, as you can see in the last pic post i posted.

    http://www.marzocchi.co.uk/moto/45legsx.html

As for the blue print/ template for the CNC machining - am not sure, i have'nt asked Jason this question but i have ment to, hopefully he will chime in and let us know if infact his machinist made a proper drawing .

Well, am glad i could help you.

    Cheers,

    G.

Ps, say hi to Tony for me.

    Gordon,
"Question - did you find my info/pics detailed enough?"

Your pics and detail have been great, i hope you dont mind but i have saved them all in a file for future reference. probelm i had that was as your frame was moded a lot of different factors applied to me. For instance where you lowered your top shock mount, i wish mine was higher as it jacked up the back of the bike somewhat. This was solved by lenghthening the rear most link 45mm. Bike sits nice and low where i had it with the original set up.

i would be very interested in the tripples if they are available and thanks for the link on the forks.

I only really dune ride here and i have no troubles sticking it to the 450 quads on smooth sand but the 30 year old suspension technology (and one less wheel) lets them get away in bumpy corners. I'm thinking this is the answer

I'll say hi to Tony for you. He has been keen to see the results of the 450R rear end conversion.
    Cheers, Brett
