what are you running for oil in you lower ends tecate 84

what should i run for lowerend oil in my 84 tecate also it says .7 next to the oil fill is that .7 ml or .7L . and could some on post a pic of there lever at the motor one of the levere disingauged and one of it in gauged im not sure if mine is pulling enough. thanks

I run Bel-Ray Gear Saver, 75w. Seems to be great stuff, comes in a 1 liter bottle. Run .7 liters or 700 milliliters, the better part of a bottle. Error to the over-filled side, any extra will come out the transmission vent tube and it doesn't seem to hurt it to be too much fluid. Change fairly regularly.

Any high quality 10-40 will work fine. There are motorcycle specific trans oils that work great as well. Golden Spectro is one i do use. I would'nt recommend some synthetics though, unless they SPECIFY "for use in wet clutch" because some bikes have separate oil for trans/clutch and engine. Bottom line, there are literally dozens of superior oils to choose from today, compared to 1984.

well im not sure how much movement the lever on top of the case should be moving for the clutch to be working properly.

I too run bel-ray gear saver at 85w. Also use bel-ray for my premix, for my 86 pv tecate, I use the bel-ray H1R with "power valve formula" Good stuff

so as long as it says wet clutch it should work fine.when you say change oil often about how many rides are you talking

Okay, now I know which lever you're talking about. It doesn't move too much, maybe an inch and a quarter, maybe just an inch, not far.

Hey Ridr3, I use H1R also, love the stuff. What ratio you running? Me, 32:1. Heck, I'm now using Bel-Ray in everything on this trike, trans, engine and forks.

Stay with it kasuki, not much longer now. Are you having clutch issues? Really almost anything will work in the trans, type F ATF, any motor oil that does not have the energy saving starburst on it, and several specialty 2-stroke trans fluids. I prefer the safety margin, for the gears, of the Bel-Ray. I change trans oil maybe every 15-20 hours of riding. Usually comes out a milky blackish grey color, not from water, but from clutch particles in the oil.

Same here, 32.1 in the 85 t3. But for the 86 I do 40.1 Love this stuff.. It too has consumed my bikes in every way lol

I run ATF in some of my 2-strokes, But I change it after each and every ride... I am very hard on the clutch and its an affordable way to have a frequent "flush"... I ran it in my quadracer for 3 long, hard, abusive years... After a recent connecting rod failure I split the cases and inspected all my gears and bearings.. Everything was just like new... Even the clutch showed surprisingly little wear...I have ran bel-ray gear saver oil with good results in the past, but it didnt shift quite as well... I have had (and seen) many horrible experiences with synthetic oils... especially when "switching" and usually end up draining it out immediately due to a slipping clutch... they probably would have worked fine with "brand new" frictions though that weren't already saturated in a different kind of oil... idk...
