I want to get one of the big 3 250 2 strokes but I can't decide. 1985 is the year I want to get. I really want a kawasaki tecate but can somebody give me the pros and cons on this machine. Also the tri-z and honda 2fiddy.

250R's are nice due to the high amount of parts available unlike the t3 and Z.

Scars are a reminder to the old of all the dumbshit they did while young - Me
i would go with the Z becuase they are a fun to ride on trails... the R is to, but A lot more fun in the sand....
the 85 t3 is known for ignition troubles, but it is easily fixxed with either a kx ignition or a ricky stator ignition, or if you want to go pvl, theres that option as well. aside from that i cant really say anything to bad about them but parts are a bit harder to find for them then the other 2. the r in my opinion is an awesome bike, but way to many of them out there and im the type that likes to be different then the others. they are the most popular 250 2stroker out there i think. the z is a cool bike as well i just dont like the gas tank being under the seat and they never really grabbed me as much as the t3 and the r.
1985 KXT 250 Tecate - kx cylinder, kx ignition, bassani headpipe, answer silencer, v-force reeds, 38mm airstyker carb, +2 franks swinger, raptor rear shock.
1996 YSF240 Blaster - maxxed out!!!
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "HOLY SH-T, what a ride!"
85 Tecate's are cheap to obtain if your keen to watching ebay or craigslist. Fast enough for anyone and there are some pretty easy upgrades to make it really killer.
I still like the R and especiallly the insane looking TRI-Z. Either of them will suit a fast paced rider or trail rider for that matter.
cheers

I love the way a Tri-Z looks. Not happy about the pump or tank mounting though...
The 250R has an endless supply of used and performance parts. But as time goes by, Big green and yellow are making some great aftermarket stuff too.
All our government does is distract us while they steal from us, misspend our tax $ and ruin our country
Ya I'm kinda that way to I want a bike that no one else rides. Over here at gordons I have not seen any tri-z's or tecates. Like what parts can't you get for the t3.

The 85 Tecate isn't that bad for getting parts. Ebay has all the stuff you can't buy new. DG makes an exhaust, Corey Sprock on here makes a 300 or 330cc stroker kit for them that I hear is just insane, extended swingarms are probably the hardest to come by along with some OEM parts that are discontinued like the carb boot.
A fat tire T3 makes an awsome sand machine.

personally i would get the t3 or z because i think that the r's are 2 common they are nice tho and do have many many many parts to choose from but i like rare tri's being restored
