i'll try to make a long story short. by the way i know jack *%! about engines. my 84 225 dx was knocking bad when i gave it a little gas. a friend of mine, who knows engines, said it was the rod and he'd take it apart. he brought the engine to a local shop. that guy took apart the crank. the bearings looked good but he said the wrist(sp?) pin was severly worn. he replaced it as well as the bearings and rod while he had it apart. it was put it back together and it sounds good until i put it in gear and lightly give it gas. the same knocking sound (loud!) appeared just as bad! it goes away quickly after the revs go up. it only does it when in gear and i first give it some gas. after that it goes away and sounds fine through the rest of the gears. can something else be causing this knocking sound(not a rattle, ping or tapping sound) in this situation? sounds like it's coming from the bottom. could the new wrist pin be wrecked already? please guys, i need your help. i'm already out $350.00 on this. thanks in advance.
