    availability of OEM parts

How do you check to see if OEM parts are still available?

I am just trying to figure out who has the easiest way. The only way I can do it is call the stealer with a part number.

Most of the high wear or easily breakable parts are gone...

Although online when you order them, you are charged for them and they seem to be available but they are gone.

If you simply MUST have a particular OEM part, then I would call my dealer and ask them to check it out.

I don't know of any other way.

I have a buddy that worked at Honda forever, I told him about EBAY and the money he could make if he started saving parts that are nearly discontinued from American Honda. He seemed PSYCHED but awhile later he told me that there is simply no way to know when the bin is getting empty....

Wouldn't it be awesome just to view that warehouse?? Imagine a bin filled with 88 250R long rod cranks or brake calipers.... I cannot imagine how big that warehouse is but we need to find someone who works there!!!! AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just look up the part on here ..... http://www.ridemsc.com/default.asp

email them the part # or call them then.

They have full schematics of all Honda ATC's.

Their prices are very good but shipping definitly high if you order just one part.

Example .....the guy said he'd give me a break on shipping a set of rear of brake pads, normal ship price was 14 bucks!!, he said 10 then, I said forget it, still too much.

Jeff use these sites for any oem part you can find. Honda does have the best prices on parts online. I just picked up the exact same boot from there a few months ago. Here are the three best places to get oem parts:

    www.servicehonda.com
    www.powersportspro.com
    www.bikebandit.com

    www.servicehonda.com part #52101-HA8-680 Around $28.50 shipped.

That was available 2 months ago and 16$ a pop, I have 3.... Just in case!!

Huffa mentioned some pads. 200X pads were about 17$ forever and available. Now just a kit with shims is avail. but it's about 10$ more. I for one will NEVER run anything but OEM pads and I like Galfer pads. Cheap pads will not stand up to mud..... Vesrah pads are cheap but junk IMO...

I'm quite sure this place above, like I mentoined before, beats any of those price wise, not sure about shipping anymore though, you would have to compare.

YEP, I'm a firm beleiver in OEM Honda pads too and what I meant to clarify to all is forget the pads becuase I can get them cheaper (shipping killed the savings on part cost) if I just go to the nearest Honda dealer around me.

I was not really looking for a place to shop. I was just wondering what the fastest and easiest way to find out if OEM parts are available.

I have cheap sources on OEM parts - and of course I will check out those sites listed that I have not frequented to check their prices.

But, it is a royal pain in the pumkin to figure out what I can get and what I can not. I usually compile a list of OEM stuff I need for a particular build and then call up and check avail for each item one by one I would like to know something is avail before adding it to my list of stuff to buy

I just order the parts online at Service or Western Honda and then they call me the day later and tell me whats gone. When I order it's usually at least a 300$ and up order anyhow so I'll get 2 or more of something I will use. If it's gone, it's gone and nothing can be done. Thats why I order OEM parts first, then whatever they don't have I buy aftermarket like motion pro or Vesrah etc etc...
