    Removing the swingarm bolt

This is the first time ive done this to the 85 Z, but I tried taking off the nut and banging out the bolt but it didnt budge and i didnt want to damage it so i gave up. There must be a technique that maybe some one could explain to me. Thanks a lot for any advice. And also, how much does anyone think i could sell the lower end of an 85 Z minus the stator and clutch covers?

hmmm, there are a couple different ways to go about the swingarm bolt. My brother ended up using a 20 ton press to get his out, and it barlyl did the trick!!!!

Aside from bangin the heck out of it, dont know what to tell you.

That bottom end, Im interested. Once you set a price, Id like to be first in line to buy the sucker.

sounds good man, its in good working condition, does have some hours on it though and the cluch does not activate till warmed up then its works great, no slip or anything else. I'll probably have it ready to sell in a week or so.

No worries on the clutch, will be completely rebuilt anyway.

Heat, grind, smash, soak, spin, spread, press, beat, drill, sawzall... ..........That about covers them all. There is no trick or easy way to get out a seized swinger bolt. Some guys aren't as bad as others and they get lucky. I'm never lucky so once it's out and rebuilt, I make sure I grease it every year or so depending on how much I ride it.

The problem is that the bolt siezes to the collars. That prevents anything from moving, since the outside of the collar is larger than the case mounting point and the bolt area of frame. Don't get to crazy on beating the bolt. It puts lots of stress on the frame and back engine cases. If i have an unusually stubborn bolt it's always safer to cut the bolt in pieces. Then you can safely remove the remains. It also allows you to replace all of the worn out bearings and stuff with fresh parts. And top it off with one of Ronnies stainless pivot bolts. Cutting usualy requires the flipping over of the machine so you can access the area with ease.
