    X swapped onto a R

ok as most know im stocking up on 85 R parts. one thing i was wanting to know is, y cant i use my 85 X front end? some people said it was to weak and some say it wont even fit. whats the deal? im tring to save as much money as possible while trying to figure out what im going to build. im hoping i can use the X front end. it would make the R sit pretty. as for being weak. whats the diffrence. i jumped my X and rolled it and crashed it but the front end held up nicely. is it because the R will weigh more? this is the question that has been eating at me. if i can use it, it would save me some cash. no?

The tripples are diff, Im sure you could get it on with some work, but honestly i would get the r front end, you wont be happy with cobbling that on. No reason why you cant score a nice front end for under 100 beans. You can use the front tire, rim, hub, ,axle and brake disk on the r, it will bolt in.

i have the X triples. as long as the triples will slide through the neck of the R. i havent made any desions, im just getting some feeback on what i should do. this will only be a daily rag. nothing fancy just the rear end RAD quad bearing carrier and lonestar axle. i might even see about having the swinger extended. +6 buahahahaha

The 200x has ball bearing races pressed on the steering shaft of the triple tree and the R has tapered needle bearing races on the tree and neck of the frame.

The races are whats pressed on and I haven't done it, but I'm willing to bet that all the X crap can be used in the R neck. When your broke, your broke and no the 200X front end isn't that weak so just give it a go.

Most of the guys with 250R's just flat out crank them on straight aways, they don't jump and use an R to it's potential. I do, and thats why I can't have one again because I end up flying through the air.

Look at the posts titled "rode the R today!!" blah blah blah and about the only thing in the air is the front end. Those would be the people to call a 200X front end suspension weak. Of course a R needs an R front end but IF a 200X will bolt on (of course steering stops would be a plus) I'd go ahead and use whatever you have.

Agreed, from a distance they look the same, but the 250r has a wider bolt pattern then the 2 or vice versa, I ran into this situation awhile back because we have a 200x wheel on my pops tecate and one day we were going to switch it on my R and yep no fit, same for trying it onto the 350x.

im going to give it a shot. it will be something diffrent i guess, plus it will give me something to do. ill prolly go with a R front end eventually but for now its time to experiment. do u guys think i should go with 18" itp rims and holeshots on the back?

I love 18's the handling is intense. BUT they are impractical for trails for sure, 20s are a good combo or trails and MX. But on a trike, lower is better!
