Does an x handle better? Oranges and apples perhaps? Leading is better for high speed stability, trailing is for a decreased wheelbase, thus better manueverabilty.

I have to say that the 86 200X is pretty close to the handling of the water cooled R's. I think they handle incredibly well. The fatter front forks and rear shock are definitely better on the R though.
When I rebuilt an R a few years ago I had the forks mounted run leading axle and it handled good, but when I spun them around to trailing which shortened the wheelbase it turned much quicker. I'm always turning threw tight trails so I like the trailing axle better.
I don't care for the handling of the 85 and under 200X's at all.
