    87 200X vs other years??

Hi guys. I just acquired a very nice 200x that is awesome shape. It just needs some small things to make it like new. My question is there a lot of variation between the 87 200x and the older ones?

I need a muffler, and motor to carb intake boot and I am wondering if older 200x parts will fit the 87?

    Thanks for the help!!

Most of the parts between the '87 and '86 interchange.

Very few parts from the earlier years ('83-'85) will work on yours.

1983 Yamaha YTM 200 (rear suspension kit)..... long term project

Thanks for the super fast replies. I figured most were not interchangeable, but wanted to double check. Sucks because it limits my options.

I've been looking for that intake boot for well over a year now. Very tough to find in good shape....

Allot less parts for the 86/87 are kickin around and nice parts are very hard to come by.

I though I heard that someone had a billet aluminum one made? I would take the boot to a machine shop and see what kind of options they can come up with.

Maybe someone does? I talked about it before or planned on mig welding a piece of pipe to 2 machined flanges.

Silicone is the temp fix, could probably cover it in Rhyno Liner too

Let me guess.... You would prefer we bid against one another rather than NOT place the auction and offer it to us here as a 3wheeler community?

Ooops, there I go not being nice again

I actually got lucky and won a mint one for 11$ awhile back but I do need another one....

    The following parts will interchange:

    Forks
    Triples
    Front wheel and hub
    carburetor
    hubs
mufflers if you slightly mod them but the 400ex slipons can fit on the cobra headers.

Thats really all that will work. But alot of other parts can be easily modified to work. You can get a brand new xr200 carb on ebay for under 50.00
1986 200x- old school D.I.D wheels, Gold D.I.D X-Ring Chain, Rad MFG. Carrier, PRM Grab Bar, Pro Circuit T-4 custom, Maier plastics, 85x forks, 18x10.5x8 kenda klaw mxr's on itp steels, the money pit never ends

2004 YFZ450 - CP 12.5:1, cam mod , gibson nerfs, hmf pipe, protaper bars + risers, dg bumper/skids, holeshot gncc's on itps, cycra handguard and more stuff to come.

I have a Pro curcuit 400ex slip on muffler and the inlet on it is 1.5''. The cobra header on there now is a little bit smaller and required a slight modification to fit. I had a old cobra muffle that I cut the cone inlet section and welded it into the PC inlet so it allowed it to slip onto the cobra header. Then I just made a small 1'' mounting bracket so the exhaust would mount to the frame. Its held up way better than any other exhaust ive had and sounds and looks good. I Think with a little modification the stock 400ex exhaust would work with the stock header.
