I am almost positive that the DX doesn't and the dr does have reverse. I think that is what the R stands for. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

No the '84 225DX does not have reverse. Parts are not that hard to find unless you want new plastics which some of the OEM plastics are discontinued and there are no aftermarket plastic companies making them.
